  • Gavin & Sondra's Wedding 4/7/2007

I know you’ve probably given up on me actually posting some pictures from mine & Sondra’s wedding, but things have been pretty busy. Married life is good, and there are some great pictures. I’ll post a few today, and try to post more soon so check back. I know most of what I post here is taken by me, but since this was my wedding I though that would be a tad hard to do. Unless otherwise noted all the shots in the post were taken by Victoria from VL pics photography (victoria@vlpics.com). She did a great job, and we both really appreciate the hard work that she did.

Since we’re on the topic of work I’d like to thank those of you who came, and those who helped out so much with our wedding. We’re way behind, and the thank you noted still aren’t out yet, but they in progress. For those of you who didn’t make it to the wedding enjoy some pics. So as not to take to much space I made them small, but just click them to open a big version.

Also in case you haven’t seen them here is a post on Cory Polis’s blog with a few more.

    More coming soon… Gav

  • Senior Portraits In Ritzville Washington

I actually shot this great shoot last month, and have not had the chance to blog about it. Josiah who lives near Ritzville, is graduating from high school this year, and was a great subject to work with. He’s a bit quite sometimes, but really worked well with my relaxed style of just having a good time, and making senior portraits personal and fun.

Josiah plays the drums, and love to read so these shots fit his personality well. Both these are done with a new digital process called HDR (High Dynamic Range) that really allows the details an color to POP

  • Spokane Wedding Photography at Bozarth Mansion

I love being a photographer! Here’s a fun shots from a wedding at the Bozarth mansion in Spokane Washington.

It’s a great location for a wedding in Spokane. Lots of room, and beautiful scenery. The outside is almost fairy tale looking especially at night. There’s a neat outdoor courtyard, and a covered area great for dancing.

Erica, and Brett’s wedding went great. The lighting here was super, and I was able to get some great shots. I especially like the window they had set the cake by, as it gave put a beautiful spotlight on it.

UPDATE: See this post for a more recent posting from this wedding with more photos.

  • Sunset Ocean bride. Westport Washington

I love getting a great wedding photo. Yes this is Sondra. This is an HDR photo which is a fairly new process especially for wedding portraits, that I’m experimenting with. I allows me to get all the vivid details of the sky, but still keep the bride clear and bright.

These are made using 3 shots taken in rapid sequence, and bracketed at various exposures. In plain English it means I take lighter and darker shots of the same scene, and take the details from all to make on shot. I’ve also been using these on senice, but it’s wedding and portrait photography that I’m really excited about using this method with. I’ll post more later, or you can also see more on my Flicker Photo Page.

  • A Path In The Wilderness

Well the honeymoon is over, but the picture taking has just begun. Here is another shot I took early this week out by Rimrock. It’s beautuful jagged landscape, and is just amazing. This is another shot from my HDR collection, and was taken around sunset.

I had a great senior shoot at the beginning of the week, and even shot a few HDR’s in that. For those of you that don’t know what I mean when I say HDR, it’s a process of capturing the scene that gets a giant range of detail. I’m really liking how well it’s working. Check back soon for some shots from that senior session… Gavin

  • I'm Baaak

Well the honeymoon is over, and I’m back home. There’s lots to catch up on, and lots of work to be done.

Though it’s always sad to see a two week vacation end, I am happy with how the wedding and the honeymoon went, and had a great time.

We have lots of pictures from the trip, and many spectacular HDR shots that will be coming down the pipes so stay tuned. HDR is great, and if you want to learn more about it stay tuned to prophotoshow as I’ll be doing a show on as, as well as writing some informative articles.

  • Bride on the beach

Here is another one of my favorites from Sondra on the beach last night. Many of the shoots on this trip have been exploring HDR, and this is no exception. The beach was really beautiful last night with all the dramatic clouds, and the bride standing barefoot in the sand finished the scene perfectly.

  • At The Ocean

From Olympia we drove to Westport right on the coast. Washington seems bigger now!

We got a nice site at the American Sunset RV resort, and then went doen to the beach. The wather has been clear, then raining etc. Sondra put on the wedding dress which we brought just for this sort of thing, and we did a shoot right on the water.

It was fairly warm until you got to the shore. Then the wind and the water made it very nippy. Sondra nearly froze, but getting dinner made up for it and we got the shots. I even did some HDR with her and the sunset, but they are not edited yet.

Here are a few of the shots with Sondra in the wedding dress. Yes it got dirty, but what’s more memorable. A dress in the closet, or photo’s of the dress in a great location. Besides it will clean.
