  • My new WordPress Blog

Well here we are. I’ve finally got away from my ugly old blogger blog

It took me some twaeking, and hassle to get it all set up, but it was worth it. You’ll now be able to search the posts, as well as have catgories for everything I post up.
I also plan in integrating Pro Photography Show over to WordPress in the next few weeks. I wanted to do my own blog first, and get the hang of it.

  • I got Engaged on 2.17.07

So I Gavin went and did it. I popped the question to my girl of two years, and she said yes. I knew she would because she made it very clear she wanted me to, but it was still fun.

I took Sondra out in the country for a photo session, and had the ring in my pocket. There are some photo’s I took below. Most are posed, but the first one is actually the moment I pulled out the ring. I set the timer, sat beside her, and pulled it out just as the camera fired. Notice the open mouthed look on her face. Pretty fun.

I’m excited, but also a little nervous. It’s a big step. Though I did take my own engagement photo’s, I don’t intend to take my own wedding photo’s. That would just not work very well lol.

Here’s the moment I gave it to her. Nope this is not a reenactment.

  • Fantasy Light (Bozarth Reatreat Center in Spokane)

Keeping busy on new ideas for 2007 has got me working on some new looks. I’m working with some effects to really add some fantasy drama to a shot. Below is a neat shot I worked with from a wedding at Bozarth in Spokane Washington last year. What I like about wedding photography is that there’s always to many moments, and so many beautiful looks they can have.

I like dramatic shots like this because they just seem to pop off the page and look different from the ordinary. Wedding photography is all about capturing the mood, and the moment and I think this shot does just what I wanted.

  • Hair & Makeup

I just love these hair and makeup shots. Getting ready is sometimes the most overlooked part of a wedding, and yet it’s just so amazing. I just love the expressions that happen during this time. The excitement is so fresh, and it just radiated from Pamela in these shots…

It just happens so natural at this time. I just wait for the right moment, and the shots come to me.

  • On The Run… On the show floor

I know I have not been keeping up here lately. It’s been a bit crazy lately. I have had two bridal shows this month (Spokane, and Wenatchee) This Sat, and Sun I have another one in Belvue so I’m on the run working on my layout, and presentation.

Thje shows are exciting, but a ton of work to plan, and do correctly. More images coming soon, so stay tuned. Also if you’re in the the are this weekend heres the info for my next show. Drop by and see me if your a photographer, or a client. Or anyone for that matter lol

Once this months shows are done I’m going to be putting together an entire PPS episode dedicated to doing a show, and I’ll try to post up some pics.

  • Saturdays Wedding

I had great wedding yesterday with Pamela & Oliver. Pamela did a great job, and looked great in her pictures. It was a fun challenge because the bridal party was very large.

Everyone did well though, and we captured some great shots. This was also my first time shooting in Raw file format on my cameras, and I think I’m going to really like it. Here’s a few shots from the wedding… Again Congratulations to Pamela & Oliver.

  • More food…

This weekend I did some more shooting for Sea Galley in Yakima. Had a good time, and got some good shots for a table tent going up for some Christmas treats.

After there shooting there was some left, and let me tell you both these pies are unreal. They just melt in your mouth. It was a significant challenge because we wanted to get the seasonal theme into the shot, but still show the pie well. Also pecan pie is not easy to work with in an image an make look really good. Overall I’m pretty happy worth the outcome, and I know that in a few days when these things go on the tables that these pies will sell like hotcakes (well actually pies)

The challenge on food shooting is from every angle, but it’s rewarding (if you know what I mean) It seems that every time you have a new item to shoot the rules change, because of the way it needs to be presented to look good.

I look forward to shooting more deserts lol… Gavin

  • Little Cowboy

    Heres one cool little hombre…

Last week I shot a Quinceanera. There were lots of neat shots, but the little ones really stood out. I just love the way kids get into the events their at. They want so much to be grownups, and they work so hard at it sometimes.

This super cool litle guy was a dancing maniac, and when his parents hot the floor he did too. I think he had more energy than they did.

This just reminds me that sometime the best shots are right under your nose, and all you have to do is SEE.
