Silver Waves of Grain:

Seim Art 1 880x537 Silver Waves of Grain:

Making landscapes comes with the privilege being able to focus on one subject. Unlike with a wedding, where we need capture a multitude of stunning images, the goal with fine art is often a single frame. Still, I often get distracted with the commercial mindset of making many photos. Yet lately I’ve been focusing more on the idea of all effort going towards the single frame. As long as it comes out stunning, I don’t much care how much planning it took. In fact the more work, the more pride I feel. Continue reading 'Silver Waves of Grain:'

This years Senior Portrait in the Venue Magazine:

I’ve been doing an alternating series of full page ads inside the front cover of Venue, a popular Central WA life magazine. This months issue will feature my senior portraits. As always I like to keep it simple, so one photo goes in this ad. I wanted to pick something from my class of 2010 seniors, all of which were super cool. I narrowed it down to a few favorites, then crowd sourced it to fans on the SS Facebook page and beyond. I then tallied up the votes and went with the highest ranked. f164. My new Journal.

Gavin SeimWelcome to f164. It’s been a long time coming and represents more than just a photo blog. It’s my fine art portfolio, but also the journal of my photographic travels, studies and experience. One of the first things you’ll notice are the giant images in posts. This site is all about photography and I decided to show it as best I could. Nothing beats a fine print in person, but that does not mean the internet has to show tiny pathetic images. This is a site, for which I have put design and beauty over commercial assets such as ads. This is my journal, my place to talk about what I learn, what I did right, what I did wrong, or anything in between. If you simple enjoy art, browse around because nearly every page has something. If you’re a photographer, watch further in my posts for in depth articles on technique, as I write about my experiences. Visit this page for a more detailed look at what f164 is all about and why if not your everyday photo blog.  Continue reading 'f164. My new Journal.'

I just posted Jayme & Brandon’s awesome wedding album. This is the Fusion slideshow. Put simply, it’s the highlights of their wedding photos set to music. The twist is that is has little video clips mixed in, bringing it to life. I’m not a wedding videographer. But I love what I was able to do to this story by adding a little bit of video. Jayme, Brandon and their family were great. This is one of those weddings that was a lot of work, but a real pleasure. From early morning to late evening and even a trash the dress session the following week. Jayme & Brandon were into it and that makes amazing things happen. This was one of those projects that makes me love my job because the couple was so in Continue reading 'Wenatchchee Wedding Photography for Jayme & Brandon.'

Moses Lake Wedding Photography for Kelly & Steele. Sneak Peak:

Moses Lake Wedding Photography for Kelly & Steele. Sneak Peak: wedding photography

Last Saturday I was photographer in a beautiful wedding over at Hidden Meadow, for Kelly & Steele (the couple I posted engagement photos of a few weeks back). Hidden meadow is simple but beautifully done. It’s like a giant garden oasis in the middle of the Moses Lake area dessert and made a stunning backdrop for Kelly & Steele to say their vows and enjoy family & friends.
