Recently I have taken up some food photography. My uncle is a part owner of Sea Galley in Yakima (Union Gap) WA. Though I shoot mainly weddings, and portraits, but I do have interest in food and commercial shooting, so when he needed his menu redone I jumped on it. I love technology, so on location at the restaurant I set up the lighting, and the laptop. Then we shot, and shot, and shot…
I never understood before now how much effort it is to get good food shots. I had my MBP laptop set up so that as soon as I took the shot it came up on the screen. This was a priceless feature, because we knew when we had it spot on.
I’m not complaining. I’m liking it, and intend to do more, and even start offering it more readily in my services. I like a challenge, weather a wedding, nature, or a plate of food.
I’ll post a few below, so see what you think. By the way I’m going there again this weekend to shoot drinks, and desserts… If your ever in Yakima, you must go to Sea Galley. The best food in town!
Good work! Justate but now I’m hungry again++

Good work Gavin. I’m salivating after seeing the shrimp skewers! LOL I’m glad you got to eat the food – that was my first question when I saw those pics.
Looks delicious! Nice work. The point of food photography is to make people hungry, and it’s working! ++
Mmmm you’re making me hungry!! ++

Oooh! I’ll come help with the dessert shooting! My favorite part of photographing food is getting to eat it afterwards! 🙂 Great job on these!++
Thanks alot, Gavin. I just ate breakfast and after looking at this post I’m hungry again 🙂 You did good work here – I bet photographing food is harder than you’d think!
