The Sceptre series is a fantasy tale set in an age gone by. It was started in 2006, and the first book is well under way. No release date is available, but it will be released at some point after The Raven’s Signant, scheduled for a 2009 release.

Prologue
There was a time, in another world, or, perhaps, another age, not unlike our own, and yet so very different. A world spanned by ages and yet populated by men such as us. There was creation, and ages, time, seasons and many tales of which we know not the half.

In this age life had begun with men and beasts, which thing we are so familiar with. And life as it so often does brought love and love brought life yet again, and as life grew it brought yet love, and hate, and war, and yes even as us, death!

A world revolved around the sun and centuries passed. Feasts, famines, wars, love, hate, peace, life, and death continued in what seemed, to them, as an unchanging circle, and yet all things change in their season, though a man may not know of it within the life that he carries out until the day his body returns to the dust.

Yes there are many stories both before and after of which could be spoken. Some known and some unknown, and yet those if indeed they be known are a tale for another time and another place dear reader. For now we take you to a time when nations were spread across the land There was peace, and yet evil. Love and sacrifice and, still, hate and envy and war and death!

Eternity is a thing that we cannot presume to understand, for how can something exist with no beginning. Or how can a thing end, and yet there is no end. It is as a circle, and yet not, for even a circle before it’s ring was complete had a beginning! Our mortal minds could swirl in confusion and not comprehend all. So we must remain content to be a part of our own time and our own age. As a wrinkle is content with it’s place in the garment, so must we remain content with the wrinkle that we are in eternity.

But let us prescribe dear reader. For when we speak of ages we speak not of mere times and millennium. We speak rather of ages as they truly are. Ages that span eternity. Where life rises and falls. Ages that are not to be reached by us, but are as other realities that once existed as we do and yet differed. Yet though the age of which we now speak may be far from our reach, and further from our own history, let us take you then on a journey through this time as if it were our own. A time still, where like as now, there is ultimate evil, and ultimate good, the creator of all things, and life that turns, turns, turns yet again.
