My wife and I were recently on our way back from Vancouver where I had been teaching a Lightroom workshop. We ended up getting to the top of Snoqualmie Pass around nine or ten in the evening. There were wispy clouds, a nearly full moon and the lights from the ski slops reflecting off the peaks. It was incredible. I stopped and spent about an hour working with different angles and compositions.

It was amazing because while there were clouds, beautiful stars (a little hard to see on your computer screen) and a great moon. A combination that’s not always easy to get up here in the mountains. Here’s some of the results. My favorite is this first one, a panorama of the two peaks that I’m calling Whispering Peaks. Chances are it will make the cut form my Signature Canvas collection in the future and will probably be going to competition as well. You can click any image for the larger version. As many of you know I’ve been working with large canvas prints of my photography. I just picked up a couple large pieces I had at Anzelinis frame shop in Moses Lake and I’m loving the results.

I’m afraid you’ll just have to avert your eyes from my knobby legs. Pretty scary I know, but what can I say. It’s summer.

The first, Doorway To Winter, is a forty six inch canvas. I’m working on a limited edition signature series of this along with others to sell in local galleries. The next is a fifty inch canvas from Jana & Darrens wedding. Heres a few photos the results. along with some edge details on the frames. Yep I know I look goofy and awkward. I wanted to make a quick post about my new Wall Portrait offerings. I’m pretty stoked about them. Like furniture for the wall, our Wall Portraits are all at least twenty four inches and their what you’ll see on the walls at the studio these days. If you look at classical portraits and art you begin to understand that small prints like eight by tens and eleven by fourteens just don’t make sense for the wall.

Every great image deserves to be hung as a high quality canvas. Here’s a photo of me with the latest studio samples. They look more amazing in person so feel free to stop by and get a closeup. Here’s a few shots I took of Sondra recently in our back yard. In staying busy with client jobs I don’t actually get to shoot Sondra that much, but she loves posing for me, and it’s a great way for me to try new ideas. What a beautiful wife I have

For my last recreational shoot I went down by Leavenworth for the afternoon and drove up Highway 2. The fall colors were amazing. This old pipeline bridge is now a footpath, and spans the Wenatchee river looked really cool. I got some other neat shots of the river itself so stay tune.  I also found a little chipmunk friend who was busy making a dinner of some strange bugs. He started to get used to me after a few minutes, and his dining experience more important than avoiding my camera.

I’ve been talking for a long time about getting a gallery of my landscape and art photography on the site, along with a means for clients to order art prints of my work.

Well I’ve finally got it done. It’s still a work in progress but the official Fine Art Gallery page is up, along with an online Signature Series Store for ordering prints of my work. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time, and it feels really good to finally have it up and running… Gav

I’m trying to take more time for nature and landscapes. Though I don’t make much monetary profit from it I get personal satisfaction by going out and enjoying the things God has put all around us. What’s funny is in my earlier years I did mostly nature. Aside from shooting nature because I enjoy it, it helps me hone my skills in all genres of photography, and com up with new ideas. When I shoot nature I’m humbled at how much I have to learn.

Nature is God’s Poetry

I love photographing nature, though with wedding and portrait shooting keeping me busy I don’t get a chance to do it as often as I’d like. It’s so peaceful to get out and just take in the world around you. The things God has placed around us are so amazing, and I overlook them nearly everyday. Today I just wanted to post a few random favorite’s.
