  • A Family Portrait in Ephrata

UPDATE 12.10: The final prints have been made and hung in the clients home. I’ll add a photo below of the main print, which ended up being a 70in framed heirloom canvas. The two other scenes were both made as 36in heirloom canvas for other areas of the house.

What a great looking family. And they did a great job as this was no easy task. I just had the privilege of making a portrait of all forty two of them. I won’t say it was easy, but I good a hearty challenge. The planning started well in advance, meeting with Mr & Mrs Chamberlain and then visiting their farm various times to layout and plan the portraits. I even chatted with a few of my mentor photo elders before photo day, discussing options and getting ideas. When the time came, I didn’t even have an assistant, but planning ahead made things come together almost perfectly.

  • 2009 Is Here. What's New At Seim Photography:

2009 is shaping up to be a busy season for me. I’m hoping to move into the new studio this summer and that’s going to be a big step. I’ll also be working out some great senior portrait offerings as we come into spring and summer.

Right now weddings are the order of the day. Much of my activity has been on the new Seim Weddings site. I just finished designing the new business cards and I’m really happy with them. You can see those in this post.

I’ll also be at the 2009 Bridal Premiere in Wenatchee hosted by Katrina’s. It’s always a fun show and we have lots of neat products to display. You can see more about that, and a look back at 2008 with a few of my favorite wedding pictures over in this post. Catch you soon… Gav

  • Leavenworth Photography: Fall On The Wenatchee River

As promised here’s another shot from my recent trip down to the Leavenworth area to shoot nature around the Wenatchee River. This is a few miles up Highway 2, right by the bridge I posted last week. The color and vibrancy of nature in the fall is always so amazing. God sure knows his colors. This is one of my High dynamic range pieces with a few of my effects added. To get the broad range of light I use the tones from three images taken at different brightness levels.

  • Family Portraits in Moses Lake

Last Saturday I did a big family portrait session in Moses Lake for Cindy and her family. They were together for a graduation party for Brianna, and we had a nice big group.

Nothing to crazy or revolutionary here. We just got some nice portraits and had a little bit of fun. The group did a great job putting up with my crazy ideas. That always makes things easier. There were lots of separate group shots, as well and some big one’s of the whole family.

I did have a bit of a challenge because of the bright sun. In photography light is great, but direct sun is hard because of the shadows and squinting. I did some corrections in Lightroom starting with some of my own effects, and then a bit more in Photoshop to compensate for the harsh light, and give the shots a bit more mood.

Here’s a few of my favorites. You can click any image for a larger view… Gav

  • Wenatchee Photography ~ Senior Portraits for Sarah

Saturday we did senior portraits for Sarah. I’ve known Sarah and her family for a long time. In fact I got my feet wet on portraiture, by taking pictures of Sarah, her Sister Naomi, and brother Ben, when I was only about fourteen years old.

We shot down at the park, and along the river in Wenatchee. It’s a beautiful place for photography, especially portraits and weddings. There’s a ton of cool shots and I’m still working on some of them, but here’s a few favorites.

  • Our First Anniversary

Sondra and I just turned 1 this week. How time flies. Marriage is good. Everyone should do it. Besides you getting marries helps keep us in business.

Anyways we left Cyrus with the grandparents and went down to Wenatchee for a nice dinner at the Applewood Grill. It’s this neat restaurant where the steaks are cooked in and open fire rock stove. It smells so good in there. No photography, no work. Just a nice relaxing evening. God is good!
