  • Big Is Beautiful:

As many of you know I’ve been working with large canvas prints of my photography. I just picked up a couple large pieces I had at Anzelinis frame shop in Moses Lake and I’m loving the results.

I’m afraid you’ll just have to avert your eyes from my knobby legs. Pretty scary I know, but what can I say. It’s summer.

The first, Doorway To Winter, is a forty six inch canvas. I’m working on a limited edition signature series of this along with others to sell in local galleries. The next is a fifty inch canvas from Jana & Darrens wedding. Heres a few photos the results. along with some edge details on the frames. Yep I know I look goofy and awkward. We just grabbed some snapshots so I could show them off. Enjoy… Gav

  • Leavenworth Photography: Fall On The Wenatchee River

As promised here’s another shot from my recent trip down to the Leavenworth area to shoot nature around the Wenatchee River. This is a few miles up Highway 2, right by the bridge I posted last week. The color and vibrancy of nature in the fall is always so amazing. God sure knows his colors. This is one of my High dynamic range pieces with a few of my effects added. To get the broad range of light I use the tones from three images taken at different brightness levels.

  • The Old Bridge & A Chipmunk Dinner

For my last recreational shoot I went down by Leavenworth for the afternoon and drove up Highway 2. The fall colors were amazing. This old pipeline bridge is now a footpath, and spans the Wenatchee river looked really cool. I got some other neat shots of the river itself so stay tune.  I also found a little chipmunk friend who was busy making a dinner of some strange bugs. He started to get used to me after a few minutes, and his dining experience more important than avoiding my camera.

  • Ellensburg Landscapes: Fall Frozen Wheel Lines

You know that criss-crossing of Summer and Autumn where the sprinklers are still going, but the cold comes in the night causing those dazzling drops of water to freeze in everything in reach. I’ve always thought that was so cool.

Anyways on a recent early moring trip to Ellensburg for a senior sesion I was out killing time before the session. This wheel line and the cool stuff in the background made for a neat viw. I shot a couple HDR’s, and then added spent some time tweaking them a little. Here’s the results. Click for a BIG view… Gav

  • Fine Art Gallery is finally here.

I’ve been talking for a long time about getting a gallery of my landscape and art photography on the site, along with a means for clients to order art prints of my work.

Well I’ve finally got it done. It’s still a work in progress but the official Fine Art Gallery page is up, along with an online Signature Series Store for ordering prints of my work. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time, and it feels really good to finally have it up and running… Gav

  • Desert Sun

A lone cowboy rides across the barren dessert atop his faithful sorrow. His silver spurs glisten in the hot afternoon sun as a dry wind rustles thru tumbleweeds caught on the countless boulders scattered along barren landscape. He looks out gloomily from under his weathered gray hat for a sign of the life giving water he seeks. There is none to be found. They trudge onwards.

OK enough of me trying to write. I have enough projects on my hands, including a couple books so I best not get started on another story. Besides that, this is a shot I took yesterday neat Ephrata lake. There was water and green not a hundred yards behind be. Interesting how fast the land around here can change.

  • Monument Hill: Washington Landcapes

I’m trying to take more time for nature and landscapes. Though I don’t make much monetary profit from it I get personal satisfaction by going out and enjoying the things God has put all around us. What’s funny is in my earlier years I did mostly nature. Aside from shooting nature because I enjoy it, it helps me hone my skills in all genres of photography, and com up with new ideas. When I shoot nature I’m humbled at how much I have to learn.

Meres a few high dynamic range shots taken from monument hill yesterday. It was a cloudy hazy day and I tried to use it to my advantage. Click them for a larger view… Gav

  • Nature Photography Around Washington

    Nature is God’s Poetry

I love photographing nature, though with wedding and portrait shooting keeping me busy I don’t get a chance to do it as often as I’d like. It’s so peaceful to get out and just take in the world around you. The things God has placed around us are so amazing, and I overlook them nearly everyday. Today I just wanted to post a few random favorite’s.

These are available as prints on the Signature Series Store. Most of these were taken around the Columbia basin area. Click any shot for a larger view, and enjoy… Gav
