  • Canvas Wall Portraits

I wanted to make a quick post about my new Wall Portrait offerings. I’m pretty stoked about them. Like furniture for the wall, our Wall Portraits are all at least twenty four inches and their what you’ll see on the walls at the studio these days. If you look at classical portraits and art you begin to understand that small prints like eight by tens and eleven by fourteens just don’t make sense for the wall.

Every great image deserves to be hung as a high quality canvas. Here’s a photo of me with the latest studio samples. They look more amazing in person so feel free to stop by and get a closeup. We’re offering them to current as well past clients so if you want a timeless print on your wall get in touch… Gav

    Score 74:

It’s actually been awhile since I’ve entered competition and it’s time I started doing it. It’s alot of work to prepare, print and submit so it’s easy to let it slide. Here’s the four 16×20 prints I’ll be entering this Spring. Since I do lots of wedding work I decided to enter two, and then one senior and a nature shot (you can only enter four). Here I come world 😉

  • Portraits for the Stout Family:

Last Friday I had the pleasure of shooting portraits for the Stout’s. Floyd & Arley were having their 50th Anniversary that day and after portraits they went for a nice dinner with their two sons Bradley & Byron.

We started in studio with some classic shots, then went for a little walk in the park for some relaxed outdoor looks. I love outdoor shooting and this was a neat session.

  • My HDR Portrait Gallery:

I often use a technique called HDR in my photography. It’s a bit cutting edge, and chalenging, but it has amazing results. You’ll see HDR all over my site and in the Nature Gallery, but I’ve finally compiled my favorite HDR portraits. Baciaclly HDR is a method of combing lightness levels to achieve a high light to dark range. I’ll explain a bit more about how HDR works on the HDR Portraits Page

  • Ellensburg Senior Portraits for Kaylee

Saturday morning I had a great senior session for Kaylee in Ellensburg WA. She also happens to be my cousin. It was fun, and she did a great job posing.I remember practicing my portrait skills one time on Kaylee when I was 12 or 13 years old. Needless to say the pictures this time came out better.

I love how the fall colors worked on the location we went. It makes the coming cold worth it. I used my effects for a variety of looks. Here’s a few favorites. Click for BIG views, and the link for the complete gallery… Gav

  • Wenatchee Photography ~ Senior Portraits for Sarah

Saturday we did senior portraits for Sarah. I’ve known Sarah and her family for a long time. In fact I got my feet wet on portraiture, by taking pictures of Sarah, her Sister Naomi, and brother Ben, when I was only about fourteen years old.

We shot down at the park, and along the river in Wenatchee. It’s a beautiful place for photography, especially portraits and weddings. There’s a ton of cool shots and I’m still working on some of them, but here’s a few favorites.

  • Jacobs Senior Portraits – Lighting With Headlights

Here’s a few shots from Jacob’s Tuesday session. There’s lots of cool ones, but these are some of my favorites. I especially like the birds in the background and the mood of this fist shot.

These were taken near Ritzville Washington, on a bridge that spanned this pond. It was getting pretty dark and I needed something dramatic. The clouds had wasted out my dreams a stunning sunset, and I knew we had to try something fast.

Looking around at the light, I got an idea (almost by accident) The car headlights had gone on, and cast light and shadows across their path. I decided to try something I had never done before by parking the car across the road with the lights on Jacob. After editing, and a few of my Lightroom effects I was able to get some super cool results… Gav

  • Spring & Summer Senior Portraits

I‘ve been working for the past few weeks on our senior programs and promotion for class of 2009 sessions this spring and summer. We’ve got some really cool stuff, and you’ll be getting my custom high school senior sessions all over Washington. These are nothing like the headshots that your school does.

    Taken in Ephrata Washington

Keep your eye on the mailbox for our 2008 Spring promo postcard and get some great discounts on your senior session. If you didn’t get one you can just shoot me an email and we’ll get you taken care of.

We still have some amazing in studio session options, but this year we’re going to continue our popular trend of getting outdoors and on location for portraits that a personal and reflect your style.
