Ice Climbers: Banks Lake

The cliffs along Banks Lake headed towards Grand Coulee get some amazing frozen waterfalls this time of year. On my escapades recently, I came across Jay and Brian, two climbers from the west side of the State, come over to brave the cold weather and get some climbing in. Here’s a few shots I took of them taking on these neat looking ice falls.

Hi Gav, Thanks for the pics! I like your work, too, you’ve got a great eye and I particularly like the use of color and composition in your images. BTW — Jay and I both are Christians as well! Nice meeting and chatting with you for a while. Hope to get out there again this season.

    Hi
Thank you for taking some pics while I was belaying him. He is the photographer and he’s always bugging me to take pics of him. These are excellent pics. Good Job.

Hey guys thanks. It was neat watching you both work. My uncle used to be really into climbing. I was talking to him last night and he was telling about a time he “free climbed” up this cliff and got way over he head.

He ended up clinging on by his fingers over a thousand feet up thinking he was going to die for sure.

I like the color saturation in your photos. There was a lot of HDR and I didn’t capture it as fully as I wanted to. Did you work the photos in the digital darkroom? Better to e-mail me … thx again. PTL!
